Santa shows up in Naples helps kids who wouldn’t get a Christmas

Santa shows up in Naples helps kids who wouldn’t get a Christmas

NORTH NAPLES, Fla.- Families waved as Santa and Mrs. Clause pulled up on a fire engine.

The mini parade happened along Trail Boulevard in North Naples. The event was hosted by the HUGS department of NAMI, a non-profit who helps families with financial, social, emotional or mental struggles. The families had dinner with Santa then received Christmas gifts.

NAMI HUGS runs off donations only and help is always appreciated.

FloridaSDC is a vehicle for eligible individuals to use public funds to arrange their own mental […]

Unexpected visitors were greeted like old friends. No matter how busy her day — and she juggled a lot — Leib-Hunter had time. She remembered details of others’ lives no matter how much time had passed.

The National Alliance on Mental Illness in Collier, NAMI, lost their longtime executive director Wednesday at age 54, after a battle with health issues.

On Friday, the staff at the Sarah Ann Drop-In Center, which Leib-Hunter was passionate about, […]

Kathryn Leib-Hunter was a true advocate.
As the chief executive officer of NAMI of Collier County, she knew how to get things done and fought to change the stigma associated with mental illness.

She died on Wednesday evening at 54.

A release the organization sent out Thursday afternoon states she had been suffering severe health issues.

Leib-Hunter became known in the community as a champion for those affected by mental illness. It was a cause close to her heart. One of her brothers struggled with mental illness and […]

NAMI Collier Partners with CCPS in ‘We Care’ Campaign

NAMI of Collier County recently partnered with Collier County Public Schools, the David Lawrence Center, and the Collier County Sheriffs Office in a new student mental health awareness campaign called “We Care.” This campaign was created to assist with prevention, early intervention, treatment, and improved care coordination for children with mental health concerns.

The “We Care” Campaign is geared toward middle and high school students, and the goals of the campaign are to open the diaglog (and decrease) stigma, educate about the warming signs of suicide, depression, substance abuse, and bullying.

2015 “Believe” Luncheon Highlights

The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) of Collier County hosted their 2015 Hope Shines luncheon on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at a private club in Naples, drawing in supporters from near and far.
